A How-To Guide to Becoming a Full REALTOR® Member

Full Board Member – Agent

A full membership to the Scenic Coast Association of Realtors® (SCAR) includes membership to the California Association of REALTORS® (CAR) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). If you are currently enrolled with these associations (CAR and NAR) through another board of REALTORS®, you would join the Scenic Coast Association of Realtors® as a secondary member, paying only our association fee and a processing fee. Said fees, for either full or secondary members, are paid annually and prorated throughout the year. Please see for a complete explanation of what a full membership entails.

Membership and usage of our multiple listing service (MLS) is a separate fee which is charged on a quarterly basis, as is usage of our lockbox system, Sentrilock. Please click here to view these fees. The following are the steps you would take to become a full or secondary member:

1. Go to “Become a Member,” download and fill out the application, making sure to get your broker’s signature
2. Make a copy of your valid California Real Estate License to include with your application
3. Please email the Association office (staff@sceniccoast.org) for copies of the Association By-Laws, the MLS Rules and Regulations, and the NAR Code of Ethics (if you live locally, please stop in, otherwise the information can be sent via email in PDF format)
4. You will be asked to sign a “Receipt Form ” acknowledging receipt of these documents before your application can be completely processed; this form is available under the "Forms" link
5. The agent (or broker) will submit a check made payable to the Scenic Coast Association of Realtors for all association dues (the specific amount can be found under the "Become a Member" link), and the broker will submit a check for MLS and lockbox dues; these amounts may also be found under the "Become a Member" link
